Occupational Driver’s License in Collin, Denton Counties

If a motorist is arrested for driving while intoxicated in Frisco, TX, Collin, or Denton County and either fails or refuses to submit to a breath or blood test, the driver’s license will be put in jeopardy of being suspended. If the driver does not request a hearing with the ALR to contest the suspension, or if the motorist is found guilty of driving while intoxicated, the driver will lose their license. The good news is that a person who drives may be eligible to apply for a restricted license, often known as an occupational driver’s license, which will only enable them to drive for specific reasons.

The Denton County DWI Criminal Defense attorneys at Ridgely Davis Law have extensive experience as Collin, Denton, and surrounding counties and they can provide you with the legal guidance you require not only to fight the charges of drunk driving against you, but also, if necessary, to apply for an occupational license. Occupational Permission in the State of Texas

In the state of Texas, drivers whose licenses have been suspended due to alcohol-related charges are eligible to apply for a special limited license known as an occupational license. A person can get a license that permits them to drive for their employment, for educational purposes, or in order to carry out important domestic responsibilities if they have an occupational license.

How do I go about getting a license for my occupation?

In the state of Texas, an application for an occupational license must be submitted in either the county in where the driver resides or in the county in which the alcohol-related violation was committed. After that, there will be a hearing in front of the judge, who will decide whether or not to award an occupational license based on the evidence presented.

If the judge decides to issue the occupational license, he or she will sign a court order. This court order, together with a certified copy of the petition, will need to be sent in to DPS. If the judge decides to award the license, the petition will also need to be certified. The occupational license will be issued as soon as DPS receives these papers along with the cost for the license. There may be additional expenses associated with the reinstatement process.  Schedule a Free Case Evaluation with the DWI Defense Lawyers at Ridgely Davis Law in Frisco Texas to learn how we can help with Occupational Driver’s Licenses in Collin, Denton and Surrounding Counties.
